Solidary increase of tax

Solidarity tax

9 November 2013

Solidary increase of tax (or solidarity tax) is newly established for years 2013 - 2015. Many of our clients assume that this temporary adjustment will become permanent after 2015. Either in a form of this "millionaire surcharge" or in a form of progressive taxation. However, this presumption is rather uncertain reflecting election programmesof winning politicl parties: CSSD wants to increase taxes, ANO wants to sustain current level, KDU-CSL wants to decrease taxes...

Nevertheless, it is very important that employees' foreign income taxed abroad is to be subject to solidarity tax only for the part that was not "tax exempt". Basically, what was taxed abroad, shall not be subject to tax in the Czech Republic. Not even the solidarity tax. If you have employees assigned in foreign countries, please make sure their income is properly treated and prevent extra (unnecessary) taxation.
